Blue or pink? Still a mystery for now...

First of all, a HUGE thank you for the wonderful comments and emails we've received. We are so blessed to have amazing people in our lives!

To recap our much-anticipated doctor's appointment yesterday, I'll just say this: pretty anticlimactic.

Don't get me wrong! The appointment went well. We heard the heartbeat at a reassuring 163 beats per minute and saw the baby moving around a bit. He looks wonderful and is growing right on pace (we'll post the ultrasound photo as soon as we get it scanned). He's still measuring a few days ahead, but well within the "normal" range. According to one of the weekly emails we get, our baby is now the size of a medium shrimp. But if you ask me, 7.5 cm (just about 3 inches) is a pretty large shrimp!

BUT. We're no closer to knowing the sex than we were last week. The baby was in some sort of position that made it impossible to get a good look at that area, so it still remains a mystery for now, which is fine. One significant thing about this appointment was that it was done by a perinatologist in an office separate from my OB… his bedside manner was very short and not very informative, which made us realize how spoiled we've gotten by having such great doctors so far in this journey. My brother tells me that I'm the kind of needy patient that could make a doctor crazy (probably true), but except for the one yesterday, every doctor we've had has indulged my questions, concerns and worries.

So now we wait until next week for the results of the Nuchal Translucency Scan, and we'll have another appointment with our OB next month. I'll be 17 weeks at that appointment -- almost halfway through the pregnancy! Time is going so quickly!
